About Us
The Tiger's Pen is William Mathew Middle School's student-operated literary magazine. We collect writing from all students of WMMS and publish the admissions. We think it's important for students to share their literary work and thoughts, so we're giving them a chance to do that.
We first got the idea for The Tiger's Pen from our RAP teacher, Mrs. Martin. We were doing Spring projects in class and we picked writing. She asked us if we'd be interested in doing a literary magazine, and we agreed. She helped us with planning, designing, building, and publishing our magazine and website. None of this would have been possible without her.
Our cover artists for the Spring 2014 Edition are absolutely amazing and extremely talented. Ami Patel, a fellow student of ours, designed and drew the border and title, and Mr. Cook, our science teacher, drew the adorable cartoon in the middle. Our cover turned out to be more than we had ever hoped for and we absolutely love it.
Our cover for the 2nd edition was photographed and edited by Abbey Ranson, who also did a wonderful job!
Our submitters, which were a variety of students at our school, submitted absolutely incredible writing. We were shocked at the enthusiastic response we received from them and elated with the result. We thank them for submitting in the first place, and then going through the editing process, which must have been a pain.
Mrs. Kramer helped us with getting the magazine in the right place. She worked on trying to figure out how to get the file on the school website, so that we could connect a link to it. She worked hard and generously gave up her own time to help us.
This magazine has been an incredible experience for us and we hope it can be continued years into the future.
